Acceptable Use Policy (AUP)
Gig Fibre Ltd – v1.0 (13 Oct 2025)
This AUP forms part of your Agreement with Gig. It applies to all Services (broadband, fixed-wireless, hosting, email, VoIP, domains, IP space).
1) Lawful use
- Do not use the Services for anything unlawful, fraudulent, defamatory, invasive of privacy, harassing, hate-promoting, or that infringes intellectual property.
- You are responsible for content you access, host, send, or make available.
2) Security & integrity
- Keep credentials and devices secure; patch systems and use firewalls/anti-virus.
- Do not attempt to bypass authentication, scan/probe networks (incl. port scanning), or interfere with any network, device, API, or service.
- Do not introduce malware, bots, or any automated traffic that degrades service.
3) Email, messaging & spam
- No unsolicited bulk or automated messages (email/SMS/IM/VoIP), no address harvesting, open relays, or snowshoeing.
- Marketing messages must be consent-based and compliant with UK law (PECR/GDPR).
- If your system is compromised and sends spam, you must fix it immediately; we may quarantine or block mail to protect recipients.
4) Network abuse & traffic manipulation
- No DDoS, amplification (e.g., open resolvers/NTP/SSDP/Memcached), traffic spoofing, or manipulating routing/headers.
- Do not run open proxies, open SMTP relays, or misconfigured services that can be abused.
5) Content & hosting
- Hosting or distribution of material that is illegal in the UK is prohibited (incl. illegal pornography, unlawful drug/weapon sales, extremist content, and material infringing third-party rights).
- You are responsible for backups and application patching on any hosted workload.
6) Resale & sharing
- Resale or sub-assignment is only allowed where expressly agreed in writing and must include terms at least as strict as this AUP.
7) Enforcement
- We may filter, rate-limit, block, quarantine traffic, or suspend Services to protect the network or comply with law.
- We'll give notice where reasonable and lawful; serious/repeated breaches may lead to termination under the Terms.
- You're responsible for our costs arising from your breach (including third-party complaint handling, blacklist delisting, or engineer time).
Important: Violation of this Acceptable Use Policy may result in service suspension or termination.
