Setting Up Your Email on Windows 10
Windows 10 includes a built-in Mail app that makes it easy to set up your email account.
Method 1: Automatic Setup
- Open the Mail app from the Start menu
- Click Add account
- Select your email provider type (usually Other account or Advanced setup)
- Enter your email address and password
- Windows will attempt to automatically configure settings
Method 2: Manual Setup
If automatic setup fails, configure manually:
- Open Mail app and click Add account
- Select Advanced setup or Other account
- Choose Internet email
- Enter account details:
- Email address: yourname@yourdomain.com
- Username: yourname@yourdomain.com
- Password: your email password
- Account name: (optional, for display)
- Click Sign in
Server Settings
You may need to enter server settings manually:
- Incoming email server: mail.yourdomain.com
- Account type: IMAP (recommended) or POP3
- Outgoing email server: mail.yourdomain.com
- Incoming port: 993 (IMAP SSL) or 995 (POP3 SSL)
- Outgoing port: 465 (SSL) or 587 (TLS)
- Require SSL: Yes
Verify Setup
- Send a test email
- Check that you receive emails
- Verify folders sync correctly
