Switching Your Email Mailbox to Plesk

If you're migrating from an older email system to Plesk, follow these steps:

Before You Begin

  • Backup all important emails
  • Note your current email settings
  • Ensure you have access to both old and new systems
  • Plan for a brief downtime during migration

Migration Steps

  1. Log into your Plesk control panel
  2. Go to MailMail Accounts
  3. Create your email account in Plesk
  4. Set the same email address and password
  5. Configure mail client settings (see our email setup guides)

Email Client Configuration

Update your email client (Outlook, Thunderbird, etc.) with new server settings:

  • Incoming Server: mail.yourdomain.com (or provided server)
  • Outgoing Server: mail.yourdomain.com
  • Ports: IMAP 993 (SSL) or POP3 995 (SSL), SMTP 465 (SSL) or 587 (TLS)
  • Username: Your full email address
  • Password: Your email password

After Migration

  • Test sending and receiving emails
  • Verify all folders migrated correctly
  • Check spam folder settings
  • Update any email forwarding rules
